Ardagh United is proud to have a dedicated coaches who have completed the FAI’s In Her Boots program.
Developed by the FAI in partnership with Aviva, In Her Boots is designed to help coaches and volunteers better understand and support girls aged 9 to 16 at every stage of their football journey. The programme provides practical guidance in important areas such as confidence, nutrition, female health, injury reduction and keeping girls involved in the game.
The knowledge gained through In Her Boots will help us to:
- Create a more positive and supportive environment for girls
- Build player confidence both on and off the pitch
- Reduce the risk of avoidable injuries
- Help girls remain active and involved in football for longer
- Give coaches and parents a better understanding of the challenges young players may face
The program was introduced to address the drop-off in girls’ participation and to give coaches, parents and volunteers evidence-based tools to support young female athletes. More than 2,000 people across clubs nationwide had taken part in the program in 2025.
This is another positive step in our commitment to developing girls football at Ardagh United.
We want every player to feel welcome, confident, understood and supported, while receiving the best possible football experience within the club.
We are delighted to have coaches who have invested the time in completing this program and who can now share that knowledge with our players, coaches and wider club community.
