There will be a little extra Ardagh United interest in this weekend’s Senior Women’s FAI Cup Final, with former Ardagh United player Melissa O’Kane set to line out for Athlone Town.
For everyone involved with our club, it’s a proud moment to see a player who once wore the Ardagh United colours go on to compete on one of the biggest stages in Irish football.
Melissa’s journey is a brilliant example for the young players currently coming through our club. Every player starts somewhere, and for Melissa, part of that journey started right here with Ardagh United.
Seeing a former player reach an FAI Cup Final is something the whole club can take pride in and shows our younger players where their own football journey can potentially take them.
This weekend, we’ll be proudly watching one of our own take to the big stage.
Everyone at Ardagh United wishes Melissa, her teammates and everyone at Athlone Town AFC the very best of luck in the final.
From Ardagh to the FAI Cup Final — we’re proud of you, Melissa
